Neil Gerald Hammaker

Neil Gerald Hammaker, 68, of Warner Robins, died November 25, 2020, at his home following a lengthy illness. Neil was born on March 28, 1952, in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, and was the son of the late Raymond and Ida (Cohick) Hammaker.

Neil was a 1970 graduate of Williamsport High School. He served in the United States Air Force from 1970 until 1994, retiring with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. His proudest accomplishment was assisting in providing the “latest state of the art” vehicles and equipment to the Civil Engineering Squadrons around the world. Following his military career, he was Vice President at Defense Products Marketing, Inc. for 20 years and operated Hammaker Consulting, LLC for two years.

Neil was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Warner Robins where he served as vice chairman of Trinity Men’s Ministry, lead usher for the traditional service, Stewardship Chairman, a small group leader, and served at the Emmaus Table. He was very active with the North Houston Gideon Camp where he served as the scripture and distribution chairman since 2014 and visited the Macon State Prison monthly to visit with the prisoners. He enjoyed hunting and volunteering at the Little League Baseball tournaments. He was a member of the American Legion, Perry VFW Post 6126, Air Force Sergeants Association and the Air Force Association.

His memory will forever be cherished by his loving wife of 49 years, Patricia J. (Smith) Hammaker; daughter, Melissa J. Hammaker of Marietta, Georgia; son, Eric B. Hammaker (Jeannie Greenstreet) of Warner Robins; mother-in-law, Betty A. Smith of Warner Robins, Georgia; brother Scott E. Hammaker (Debbie) of Dayton, Ohio; dear friend, Jack Folmar of Williamsport, Pennsylvania; brothers-in-law, Daniel T. Smith of New Orleans, Louisiana, Wayne Smith (Brenda) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; nieces and nephews, Katherine Gonzalez (Jorge), Kristen Scharf (Zachary), Ashley Bowers (Wade), Justin Hammaker, Kellee Smith, Wayne Smith (Shanae), Frank Romero (Melissa); and five great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond “Raymie” Hammaker, III of Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Trinity United Methodist Church Food Pantry and Emmaus Table, 129 S. Houston Road, Warner Robins, GA 31088, would be appreciated.

A viewing service to honor the life of Neil will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at McCullough Funeral Home with a funeral service to be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Warner Robins. A private burial will be held at a later date at Magnolia Park Cemetery. The Reverend Craig Hutto will officiate the service.
