Nell Ryals

February 4, 1928 — March 6, 2017

Nell Ryals, 89, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, March 6, 2017.

Nell was born on February 4, 1928 in Dooly County, Georgia to the late Ernest Stafford Tippett and Bessie Tippett. A dedicated homemaker, she was a member of Central Baptist Church since its first construction on Watson Boulevard in Warner Robins. Nell was a Girls' Auxiliary leader at Central. She was married to the late John Frank Ryals, and like her husband, dedicated much of her time and efforts in support of the Houston County Association for Exceptional Citizens (otherwise known as Happy Hour School and Workshop). Their son, Jimmy, has attended Happy Hour since its founding, prior to construction of the current facility in 1964. Nell was a leader in the Happy Hour Mom's group. She loved working in her yard, feeding the birds and squirrels, and keeping a tidy home. Nell will be greatly missed by all of the loving caregivers that have taken care of her, Frank, and Jimmy for the last few years.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jay Ryals.

Nell leaves her memory behind with two sons, John Ryals (Ann) and Jimmy Ryals (the inspiration for their years of involvement in special needs organizations and activities); grandchildren, Ashley Pierce (Joey), Johnny Ryals, and Jamie Ryals; great-grandchildren, Shelby Baughcum, Westin Pierce, and Tessa Pierce; niece, Sandra Strickland (Neil); great-nephew, Hal Rape (Cassie); and great-niece, Cori Jernigan (John).

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 8th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 10th at Central Baptist Church. Afterwards, Mrs. Ryals will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Houston County Association for Exceptional Citizens, 202 North Davis Dr, PMB 164, Warner Robins, Georgia 31093.
