Odus (Mack) Sanford Russell, Jr.

December 26, 1932 — April 10, 2003

Odus Russell, 70, left for his eternal Homecoming Thursday, April 10, 2003, at his residence after a lengthy illness. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 14 at Faith Assembly of God, 2288 Moody Road, Warner Robins, GA, with interment following in Magnolia Park Cemetery Veteran’s Plaza Mausoleum with full military rights. The Reverend Chuck Morris and Reverend Billy Thomas will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home.

Mr. Russell was born in Township of Richmond, Missouri. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Korean Conflict and Peacetime veteran receiving an Honorable Discharge. During military training at Fort Ord, CA, he was used as an extra in the Warner Bros, “Breakthrough” (1950) starring actor John Agar. In 1967, Mr. Russell was Ordained to Minister the Gospel with Emmanuel Holiness Church in Auburndale, FL and later elected as State Overseer at the General Assembly in 1968, helping his wife Pastor at the Auburndale church.

In 1991, a Trophy and Golden Poet Certificate was awarded to Mr. Russell in New York City from World of Poetry for a poem he wrote, “In The Sand Of Saudi Arabia; A Night In The Sand.” Mr. Russell retired after 28 years with Russell Homes, Inc. where he served as Vice President. He was involved in land development and residential construction with his brother, Richard Russell. He was a past member of Houston County Home Builders Association. He was an active member of Faith Assembly of God serving several years on the Official Board and had participated in the Assemblies of God MAPS program. He was a member of Cornerstone Sunday School Class and was a faithful Prayer Warrior. His father, Odus Sanford Russell, Sr. and mother, Beulah Bonnie Passmore, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his faithful wife of 38 years, Billie Ruth (Tompkins) Russell, Warner Robins; brother, Richard (Jean) Russell, Warner Robins; sister, Nettie (L.B.) Foster, Tallapoosa; brother-in-law, Leon (Emily) Tompkins, Warner Robins; daughters, Ruth Lanae (Boyd) Collier, Macon; Bonnie (Gary) Christian, Fresno, CA; Sherry Jane Shaw, Visalia, CA; sons, Terry Wayne (Sherry Dawn) Russell, Bakersfield, CA; Gary (Debbie) Watson, Bonaire; David Watson, Warner Robins; Mark Watson, Kathleen; grandsons, Matthew Collier, Macon; Justin Russell, Jared Russell, Brandon Shaw, CA; Shawn Lee West, WV; Christopher Watson, Warner Robins; granddaughters, Lindsey Christian, LA, CA; Melissa Watson, Sherrie Watson, Karley Watson, Warner Robins; (2) great grandsons, Tyler West, Callahan, FL; Chase Watson, Warner Robins; several nieces, nephews, and many other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Houston County, 103 Westridge Drive, Warner Robins, GA 31088. The family maybe reached at 1116 Alderly LN, Warner Robins.
