Onita W. Page

July 4, 1927 — February 9, 2021

Onita W. Page, a faithful and devoted Christian woman, went to be with her Lord and Savior in the early morning hours of February 9, 2021.

Onita was born in Fort Valley on the 4th of July in 1927. The daughter of the late Clarence Whittington, Sr. and Louvine Aerosmith Whittington, she grew up in Montezuma, Georgia and attended school there. From an early age, Onita was taught to work hard, learning to take care of her six younger siblings as well as helping her father fish. The family depended on catching fish to help feed their large household and her dad taught her how to do that well. Onita took that early knowledge of hard work and dedication with her when she worked at Vanna Mill for many years. She then went back to her roots working in the labor and delivery department of Houston Medical Center for 39 years tending to newborn infants.

Onita was one who never missed church. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Southside Baptist Church where she was a longtime worker in the nursery. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and loved her dogs, Pete and Ralph, who loved her right back. Most of all, Onita was known for her love and trust in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

In addition to her parents, those who preceded Onita in death were her husband, Charles Page; her son, Steven Green; and siblings, Clarence “Whit” Whittington, Jr., Clarette Denney, Walter “Catfish” Lawrence Whittington, and Tom George Whittington.

Those left to hold her memory dear are her son, Victor Green of Macon; sister, Lavoye Morgan (Ken) of Muskogee, Oklahoma; and brother, Lavar Whittington (Judy) of Americus, Georgia.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Friday, February 12, 2021 at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow at noon in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Burial will take place following the service at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. For friends unable to attend at this time, the service will be streamed live via the McCullough Funeral Home Facebook page at www.facebook.com/mcculloughfuneralhome/live/.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made in Onita’s memory to Southside Baptist Church, 1040 S. Houston Lake Road, Warner Robins, GA 31088.
