Ozie W. Davis, Jr.

November 10, 1920 — September 9, 2003

Mr. Ozie W. Davis, Jr., passed away on Tuesday, September 09, 2003 at his home. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 11 at Central Baptist Church with interment following in Magnolia Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Joy in the Journey Building Fund at Central Baptist Church, 1647 Watson Boulevard, Warner Robins, GA, 31093 or to Hospice of Houston County, 103 Westridge Road, Warner Robins, GA, 31088.

Mr. Davis was born in Bleckley County, Georgia. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army, 88th Infantry Division. He participated in the drive through Southern Italy and was among the first “Dough Boys” into Rome. He received the EAMET Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and was a Purple Heart recipient. Mr. Davis retired in 1982 as Assistant Fire Chief for the City of Warner Robins, and was one of the first ten firefighters hired in Warner Robins under Chief E.W. Wood in August of 1959. He was a member of Central Baptist Church and the Pete Joyner 8:30 Sunday School Class. His parents, Ozie Davis, Sr. and Gladys Key Davis, and brother, Clyde Ray Davis, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Frances Milford Davis; sons, Ozie M. Davis (Judy) and Randall E. Davis (Donna), of Warner Robins; James A. Davis (Rosemary), Milledgeville; four grandchildren, Randall Davis Jr., Denise April Davis, Jennifer Elaine Davis, Bobby Lee Davis, all of Warner Robins; one great-grandchild, Autumn Nichole Davis, also of Warner Robins; sisters, Kathleen D. Eubanks, College Park; Hazel D. Crook, Warner Robins; Rosa Lee D. Hogg, Americus; and a brother, Vernon E. Davis, Oglethorpe, GA.
