Patty Louise Porter Martin

February 11, 1947 — March 14, 2023

Surrounded by her loving family, Mrs. Patty Louise Porter Martin, of Macon, GA, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2023, after a lengthy illness. Patty was born to parents John and Carolyn Porter on February 11, 1947 in Shreveport, LA, and grew up in Ruston, LA, where she was a beloved member of Temple Baptist Church. In 1969, Patty graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a B.S. in office management. That same year, she married her college sweetheart, Jonny Martin, and they remained inseparable for the next 54 years. Together, they moved to Knoxville, TN where they had two sons, Casey and Jeremy.

In 1985, the Martin’s moved to Macon, GA, and for over 20 years, Patty served as a highly professional legal secretary in the firm of Jones Cork, LLC, retiring in 2008. She was for many years, a member of First Baptist Church, and then, Northminster Presbyterian Church in Macon, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Remembered for her beautiful voice, Patty was a lifelong lover of music, serving as pianist in several churches they were a part of through the years. Many did not know that Patty was also an avid fan of SEC football.

A sweetly dispositioned and compassionate woman, endearing herself to anyone she met, Patty is survived by her devoted husband, Jon; her two sons, Casey (Wendy) of Macon, and Jeremy (Nancy) of Los Angeles, CA; her brother, John Porter (Patty) of Arlington, TX; her sister, Brenda P. Harman (Richard) of Grand Prairie, TX; and two grandchildren in Los Angeles, Elliot and Lucy.

The family is having a private celebration of life.
