Paul Jeffrey Jarrett, Md

December 4, 1954 — May 26, 2018

After an extended illness, Dr. Jeff Jarrett, 63, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at his home with his family and the best of friends by his side.

Dr. Jarrett was born on December 4, 1954 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Lt. Col. Paul A. Jarrett and Ruth Mary Jarrett. His family moved to Warner Robins in 1966 as a result of a military transfer. He was a 1972 graduate of Warner Robins High School and a 1976 graduate of Emory College, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry, the traditional path to medical school. He next attended the Emory University School of Medicine on scholarship from the United States Air Force. Upon his graduation from medical school in 1980, Dr. Jarrett was commissioned by his father. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Emory and then entered the USAF, where he served on active duty for three years, following which he served an additional seven with the Air Force Reserve.

While at Emory, Dr. Jarrett became a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, an organization whose values he continued to carry throughout his adult life. During his time in medical school Dr. Jarrett fell in love with orthopedic surgery. It was during his orthopedic residency that he first met his beloved wife, Susie, a very special orthopedic operating room nurse who caught, and never left, his eye. In 1989, with his military service completed, Dr. Jarrett and his family decided to settle in Warner Robins; a decision they never regretted. During his nearly thirty years of practice in Houston County he earned Fellowship in the American College of Surgeons, American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. Dr. Jarrett was forced to retire from his practice in 2017 due to a medical condition. With his passing, he leaves behind the legacy of being a devoted husband and father to his family, as well as a talented and compassionate physician and caregiver to many. Throughout his career, Dr. Jarrett valued the relationships he forged with his fellow colleagues, coworkers, and patients; he greatly valued the personal bonds they developed.

His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of thirty years, Susie James Jarrett; children, William James Jarrett of Atlanta, Joseph Paul Jarrett of Warner Robins and Jillian Elizabeth Jarrett of Tampa Florida; adopted son and best friend, Chris Saltz; sister, Jacquelyn Marie Edwards (Clark) of Lexington, Kentucky; sister in law, Jennifer James Camp (Ronnie) of Chapin, South Carolina; brother in law, Greg James (Marie) of Mableton, Georgia; nieces and nephews, Jarrett Edwards, Tom Edwards, Courtney Camp Highsmith (Brent), Lauren Camp Carsten (Brad); one great niece and three great nephews.

Dr. Jarrett is predeceased by his parents and nephew Ross Camp.
