Peggy Sears Talton

July 13, 1933 — March 21, 2018

On the evening of Wednesday, March 21, 2018 surrounded by her beloved family, Mrs. Peggy Sears Talton passed peacefully away at her residence. Mrs. Talton, daughter of the late Homer and Louise Sears, was born in Dublin, GA in 1933. The family relocated to Warner Robins when she was 14 years old. A member of the class of 1950 from Warner Robins High School, she was a cheerleader and considered “best dressed” among her peers. It was also at Warner Robins High School where she met Cullen Talton, the young man who would later become her husband. The high school sweethearts were wed in 1950. At that time, they moved to Bonaire to start their family on the farm where they would share 68 wonderful years of marriage.

Mrs. Talton was a willing volunteer who devoted time to numerous organizations including the Georgia Sheriffs’ Auxiliary Wives Association, the Warner Robins Recreation Department, and the Houston Medical Center’s Pink Ladies. She also worked as a substitute teacher at Bonaire Elementary School. Additionally, she was a long-time member of Bonaire United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher, worked on several church committees, and was a Methodist Youth Fellowship Leader. Mrs. Talton loved the outdoors, took pride in her yard and enjoyed spending time in the garden. She also loved to cook and found joy in serving meals to her family and friends. More than anything, Mrs. Talton will be remembered as a caring and gracious wife, mother, and grandmother who adored her husband and the family they built together. In her eyes, this family was her whole world.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Talton was preceded in death by two brothers, Clay Sears and Maynard Sears.

Mrs. Talton is survived by beloved husband, Sheriff Cullen Talton; daughters, Carlene Talton of Decatur, GA, and Patty Redmond (Ed) of Marietta, GA; sons, Cully Talton of Perry and Neal Talton (Ginger) of Bonaire; grandchildren, Kitt Orr (Brandon), Lindsey Farrar (Chris), Tal Talton (Amanda), Sydney Morstad (Josh); and eight great-grandchildren.

On Saturday, March 24, 2018 the family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:30 p.m. in the old chapel at Bonaire United Methodist Church. At 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, just following the visitation time, the funeral service to remember, celebrate, and honor Mrs. Talton’s life will be held at Bonaire United Methodist Church. Following the services, she will be laid to rest in Bonaire Community Cemetery.

The family would like to say a very special thank you to Cecilia Ramsey and Dora Burkett for the warm and loving care that they rendered to Mrs. Talton. Additionally, they would like to thank Heart of Georgia Hospice for the kindness and care that they provided.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made in Mrs. Talton’s memory to the Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes, P.O. Box 1000, Stockbridge, GA 30281 or to the Bonaire United Methodist Church Building Fund, 221 Church Street, Bonaire, GA 31005.
