Philip D. "Flip" Donohoe

November 28, 1947 — January 31, 2018

Mr. Philip D. Donohoe, or “Flip” as he was affectionately known to some, passed away suddenly at his home on Wednesday, January 31, 2018. His beloved wife, Margaret Hall Donohoe, was at his side. Mr. Donohoe was born in Brooklyn, NY, in 1947 to the late William Carey Donohoe, Jr. and Frances Dabrowski Donohoe. He was a graduate of Alderson Broaddus College, where he and Mrs. Donohoe first met. They were married in 1971 and enjoyed 46 wonderful years as husband and wife. Following his undergraduate studies, he went on to attain a Master of Arts degree from West Virginia University in 1971, and then his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Drake University Law School in 1979.

Immediately following law school, Mr. Donohoe served in the United States Air Force JAG Corps from 1979 until 1992. In 1995, he joined the Civil Service as a civilian attorney at HQ Air Force Reserve Command in the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate at Robins Air Force Base. He retired in November of 2014. More recently, he enjoyed starting his mornings with his wife, a cup of coffee and the Drudge Report. Mr. Donohoe was smart, funny, generous, a loyal friend and a good man. Above all, he was a devoted and loving husband to his wife Margaret. They were “each other’s everything” and the thing they treasured most was their time spent together. Finally, he will also be greatly missed by “Peaches”, his adored cat of 17 years.

In addition to his wife Margaret, Mr. Donohoe is survived by his brother, William Carey Donohoe III of Warrington, Pennsylvania and his sister, Susan Jane Donohoe-Cumberland (John) of Hastings-on-Hudson, New York.

A memorial gathering to properly celebrate Mr. Donohoe’s life is being planned and will be held in the next several weeks at The Farmhouse at McCullough Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Humane Society of Houston County, 810 Carl Vinson Parkway, Centerville, Georgia, 31028.

McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory have the privilege of being entrusted with Mr. Donohoe’s final arrangements.
