Ralph W. Sapp, Jr.

October 1, 1936 — August 7, 2020

Ralph W. Sapp, Jr., age 83, passed into the hands of his Lord and Savior, on the afternoon of Friday, August 7, 2020.

Born in Twiggs County, Georgia, Ralph was born to the late Ralph Sapp, Sr. and Linnie Smith Sapp. He moved with his family to Warner Robins at the age of 10 and spent his youth growing up in the old boarding houses. From the time Ralph was young, he worked to help support his family, and he carried the same work ethic throughout his life. He was a second generation Licensed Plumber and Heating and Air Technician, both of which he practiced before, during, and after his Civil Service career at Robins Air Force Base. Ralph retired from the base in 1985 as a Steam Plant Supervisor, but continued to work in the plumbing and heating and air trades. He took his responsibilities seriously and did his best to be a good husband, father, and provider to his family making sure they never went without.

Ralph was always strict and stern with his children as they grew up, but as soon as his grandchildren came along, he quickly softened. He loved spending time with each of them, as well as his great-grandchildren, and enjoyed teaching them how to play card games. When Ralph wasn’t spending time with his family, you could find him sitting and fishing to pass the time. A God-fearing and faithful Christian man, he was a member of Faith Baptist Church of Bonaire for the past 10 years and served as a deacon. Ralph genuinely loved people as Jesus would and you could instantly feel how much he cared about you right when you met him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 45 years, Carolyn Henson Sapp; brother, Alton Sapp; and sister, Margaret Douglas.

Ralph is survived by his loving wife, Jean Loggins Sapp; children, Keith Sapp, Kevin Sapp (Tamara), Cindy Rountree (Don), and Lander Stinson; grandchildren, Reva Eubanks, Matthew Sapp, Sarah Sapp, Brooks Wethington, Joshua Fetters, Haley McLeod, Heather Rountree, and Kenny Rountree; 10 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Doris Garis, Linda Meadors, and Vickie Keaton.

Visitation will be Monday, August 10, 2020, from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 11, 2020, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Ralph’s son, Reverend Kevin Sapp, officiating.
