Ramona Faye Boone Hawkins

June 16, 1929 — October 6, 2022

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our sweet mother, aunt and friend, Ramona Faye Boone Hawkins. She went to be the with the Lord on the morning of Thursday, October 6, 2022.

A native of Cadwell, GA, Ramona was born on June 16, 1929, to the late Capres Monroe and Mary Will Mappin Boone. She grew up in a loving home and deeply cherished the relationship she had with her father; she was a daddy’s girl through and through. Ramona was a Civil Service retiree at Robins Air Force Base and a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Warner Robins where she always looked forward to studying and fellowshipping in Sunday School with the Joy Class.

When she wasn’t at work or at church, you would most likely find Ramona enjoying meals with friends. Going to eat good food with great friends brought her so much happiness. She was an avid fan of basketball growing up and loved playing the sport in her free time. She also enjoyed reading and passing books on to her friends through the years. Additionally, Ramona was a political enthusiast and loved listening to Christian music, especially the music of Jeff Cleghorn. The memories of laughter and fun times with her family and friends will last a lifetime in the hearts and minds of everyone who knew Ramona.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Jennifer Boyd; several nieces, nephews, friends; special friends, Miriam Jones and Bess Prichard and her dog, “Gucci,” who she loved like her own child. In addition to her parents, Ramona was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward A. Hawkins; son, Russell Tucker; her sisters, Myrtle Boone Smith, Cora Jean Johnson and Betty Jo Meers; and her brothers, Maurice Boone, Elmer Boone and Earl Boone.

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 11, 2022, from 12 noon. until 1:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home.
