Randall Wayne Thompson

October 8, 1960 — February 18, 2023

Randall Wayne Thompson, 62, entered into rest on Saturday, February 18, 2023.

Randy was born on October 8, 1960, in Norton, Virginia to the late James and Shelby Moore. Randy grew up in Coeburn, Virginia and graduated from Coeburn High School. At a young age, he began working in the coal mines. He’d go on to join the United States Air Force in 1980 and served 12 honorable years working as both sheet metal and aircraft maintenance, attaining the rank of SSgt. He’d later work for Zantop/TIMCO before finishing his career on Robins Air Force Base. Randy loved working around aircraft, which was a huge part of his life. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing and mostly spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. He always made the time to support their activities and sporting events.

In addition to his parents, Randy was preceded in death by his brothers, Benji Moore and Jeff Moore.

His memory will forever be treasured by his wife of 33 years, Helen Thompson of Centerville, Georgia; their children, Kristine Caldwell (E.J.) of Hampton, Virginia, Scott Thompson of Centerville, Georgia, and Mandy Evans (Andrew) of Bonaire, Georgia; grandchildren, Tahlia Butler, Ellieana Caldwell, Camilla Caldwell, Easton Thompson, Oliver Thompson, Roland Thaboun, and Ryder Thaboun; and siblings, James Moore, Steven Moore, and Francis Sluss.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 25, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on February 26, 2023, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Randy will be laid to rest in Parkway Memorial Gardens and immediately following the graveside service, friends and family are welcome to join us at The Farmhouse at McCullough Funeral Home for a reception.
