Ray Rushing

April 5, 1940 — June 16, 2022

Early on the morning of Thursday, June 16, 2022, Jepthy Ray Rushing, a United States Army veteran passed away unexpectedly at his residence in Bonaire.

Ray was born in Blountstown, Florida, on April 5, 1940. He was the son of the late Andrew Jackson and Minnie Lee Leverette Rushing. Ray served in the United States Army before working in civil service as a metal technician. He loved cheering on the Atlanta Falcons and was of the Christian faith.

In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Shelva Jean Willingham Rushing; and daughter, Deborah Lynn Tropuuer-Arceneaux.

His memory will forever be treasured by his children, Fred “Sonny” Arceneaux, Janice Joy, Zoe Ann Cook; grandson, Joshua W. Arceneaux along with 13 other grandchildren; brother, Waylon W. “Bud” Rushing of Alabama; as well as many other extended family members in Alabama.

Visitation with Ray’s family and friends will be held Friday, June 24, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. The funeral service celebrating his life will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Following the service, Ray will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
