Raymond Ashley Shepard

In the early evening hours of Saturday, February 27, 2016, Raymond Shepard, 76, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was born on October 6, 1939, in Bleckley County, Georgia to the late James and Lois Smith Shepard. Raymond proudly served in the United States Navy. He then began his Civil Service career at Robins Air Force Base, retiring after 33 years as Chief of the Defense Reutilization Management Office. On weekends, he enjoyed cutting hair at his father's barbershop. In his spare time, Raymond also enjoyed yard sales, refurbishing antiques, gardening, and anything that involved spending time with his beloved family.

Along with his parents, his brother, James Larry Shepard, preceded him in death.

His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 54 years, Johnnie Faye Shepard of Bonaire; children, Janet Shepard Paris (Warner) of Warner Robins; Tracey Shepard Smith (Tony) of St. Augustine, Florida; Richard Shepard (Kelly) of Albany; grandchildren, Ashton Paris, Will Paris, Chase Smith, Ellen Shepard, Samuel Shepard; as well as numerous other family members and friends.

Visitation with Raymond's family will be Tuesday, March 1, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 in the Chapel of McCullough. Following the service, Raymond will be laid to rest in Parkway Memorial Gardens.
