Raymond "Ray" Ryals

On the morning of Thursday, June 28, 2018, Ray Ryals, age 72, passed away peacefully at his residence.

Ray was born in Macon, Georgia on February 16, 1946 to the late Gerell and Claire Lewis Brewer. He spent the majority of his childhood in Macon until he and his family moved to northern Illinois for a few years. When Ray was a teenager, they moved back to his native Macon and he graduated from Lanier High School. Shortly after graduation, he proudly joined the U.S. Army where he served in combat for three years. Ray went on to hold various jobs before working and retiring from Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base. He also had a deep passion for gun re-enactment, as he was a founding member and President of the Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) Lonesome Valley Regulators. Spending time at the OK Corral and with his family was where Ray was happiest.

His memory will forever be treasured by his devoted wife of 19 years, Hazel Ryals of Byron; son, Eric Casper of Savannah; daughter, Amanda Pellegrino (Mat) of Navarre, Florida; grandson, Dominic Ogletree of Navarre, Florida; and siblings, Verlon Ryals and Lynn Graham, both of Eastman; stepbrothers, Mark and Bill Brewer of Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2018 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with military honors. The family will receive friends following the service.
