Rev. James Cullen "J.C." Evans

Rev. J.C. Evans, 81, was called home to the Lord on the evening of Thursday, July 26, 2018.

J. C. Evans was born in Laurens County, Georgia on December 19, 1936, the son of the late Elton Evans, Sr. and Martha Hillard. A resident of Warner Robins for the majority of his life, he worked for several years in Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base before retiring. Rev. Evans was later called to the ministry by God to be a pastor at Elberta Baptist Church where he served for 11 rewarding years. He was a tireless servant to God, but also to his community. Rev. Evans was a longtime member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and Rebekahs, joining Franklin Lodge #2 on June 6, 1967 and Mary Florence Rebekah Lodge #31 on March 26, 1974. He enjoyed serving as the Past Grand Master Grand Lodge of Georgia, Past Department Commander of Georgia, Past Grand Patriarch Grand Encampment of Georgia, and secretary for Franklin Lodge #2. Rev. Evans also served as chaplain for Sovereign Grand Lodge in 2014.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Betty T. Evans.

Rev. Evans’ memory will forever be treasured by his loving sons, J. Randy Evans (Linda) of Atlanta and Greg Evans (Cenith) of Cochran; grandchildren, Charlie Evans (Abby) of Perry, Tiffany Evans-Elliott of Cochran, and Jake Evans of Atlanta; great-grandchildren, Thomas Evans and Maggie-Grace Evans, both of Perry, and Kennon and Charles Elliott, both of Cochran; brothers, Elton Evans, Jr. (Alice), Albert Evans, and Olan Evans, all of Dexter; sisters, Bertie May Maddox of Dexter, Laverne Spires (Herman) of Rhine, and Willaree Hulett (David) and Johnnie Rewis (Kenny), both of Milan; and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Monday, July 30, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Millwood officiating. After the service, Rev. Evans will be laid to rest next to Betty in Parkway Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with Rev. Evans’ arrangements.
