Riley M. Cook

August 13, 1923 — April 28, 2015

Mr. Riley M. Cook, 91, passed away in Warner Robins, Georgia on Tuesday, April 28, 2015. He was born August 13, 1923 in Ryan, Oklahoma a son of Charles D. Cook and Ida (Green) Cook. In 1941, Riley graduated high school in Bellevue, Texas and worked briefly at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas. Mr. Cook was a Sergeant in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II where he served in North Africa, Italy and Austria. On September 18, 1944, he married Pauline Fuller of Buffalo Springs, Texas in Fresno, California and in 1946, they moved to Wichita Falls where they lived until 2008.

Mr. Cook was employed by United Electric Company as Plant Superintendent for 42 years until his retirement in 1988. He was a long-time member of Loop 11 and Edgemere Church of Christ. Mr. Cook was a passionate supporter of the Boy Scouts of America and served as Scoutmaster of Troop 200 along with various other Scouting positions for over 40 years. He was a Vigil member of the Order of the Arrow and was awarded the prestigious Silver Beaver award. Mr. Cook was an active member of the Sunrise Optimist Club in Wichita Falls for 45 years.

As an avid outdoorsman, Mr. Cook was also a member of the Northwest Texas Field & Stream for 43 years. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting as well as keeping in touch with friends on the computer. Mr. Cook was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Loveta McMillan; and two brothers, Donald Ray Cook and Linon Cook.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline Cook of Warner Robins; son, Dr. Ricky Cook (Pam) of Kathleen; two grandchildren, Sammy Hawkins and Tina Decheske; and six great-grandchildren. Special appreciation is extended to the entire staffs of Hospice Advantage and Antebellum Grove Assisted Living for their grace and compassion to Mr. Cook and his family.

A funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 1, 2015 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. A second visitation will be held at Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home, 2812 Midwestern Parkway, Wichita Falls, Texas 76308 on Monday, May 4, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A private burial will be held in Crestview Memorial Park.
