Robert "Clay" Clayton Hunter

February 12, 1958 — August 29, 2020

Robert “Clay” Clayton Hunter of Byron passed away on August 29, 2020, at the South Georgia Medical Center. Clay, age 62, was born February 12, 1958, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Bobby Lee Hunter and the late Beverly Jean Kinnett Sexton. Clay was also preceded in death by his wife of 23 years, Alice Hunter.

Clay was a respected building contractor for more than 30 years at Robins Air Force Base where he worked as an AP mechanic. He was a passionate arrowhead collector and amassed a large collection of Civil War memorabilia. In his spare time, Clay was a firefighter, a certified scuba diver and a pilot. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. Clay was also an avid traveler and loved his dogs.

Survivors include sons, Mason Clayton Hunter of Byron and Lee Brown of Lithonia; and sister, Karen Butler of Bonaire.

On Wednesday, September 2, 2020, Clay’s life will be celebrated during a visitation for family and friends that will take place from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home.

McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with these arrangements.
