Robert Lindsey Wade Iii

July 22, 1934 — July 11, 2021

Robert Lindsey Wade III, devoted family man and avid Atlanta Braves fan, passed away on the morning of Sunday, July 11, 2021, at the age of 86. He is gone but will never be forgotten.

Born in Canton, Georgia, on July 22, 1934, Robert was the son of the late Robert L. Wade, Jr. and Lorene Caldwell Wade, and was of the Presbyterian faith. He was an avid sports fan from the time he was little and excelled in golf and baseball throughout his life. In his younger years, Robert enjoyed spending summers playing Little League Baseball and perfecting his talent on the field, especially as short stop. His love for the game was carried through his teen years into early adulthood when he helped found the Marietta Indians, in Marietta, Georgia, in 1953. The very next year, Robert was offered a contract to join the Brooklyn Dodgers. While training with the team in Florida, he met his future wife, Barbara Cox, and decided that true love and having a family were what would make him the happiest in his life. Robert’s family always came first and there was never a doubt by any of them that he loved them with everything he had. He was successful in his career, as well, and happily retired from a 40-year career in pharmaceutical sales, 20 of those years having been dedicated to McKesson Pharmaceuticals. Robert built his life around his family and friends, and his deep love, strength, and integrity, will be profoundly missed by all.

Robert is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Wade of Kathleen; sons, Bob Wade IV (Holly) of Warner Robins and Bradford Wade (Jennifer) of Farmville, Virginia; grandchildren, Lauren Wade and Justin Wade (Mandee), both of Marietta, Drew Poff (Blair) of Perry, Donnie Wade (Eva) of Adairsville and Kristin and David Wade, both of Canton; seven great-grandchildren; and brothers, David Wade (Marie) of Bentonville, Arkansas and Bill Wade (Sharon) of Marietta.
