Ronnie L. "Ron" Works

September 7, 1949 — November 14, 2016

Warner Robins – Ron Works, 67, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2016.

Ron was born on September 7, 1949 in Gadsden, Alabama. He was raised in the Atalla, Alabama area where he later graduated from high school. Following graduation, and just seventeen days before his 18th birthday, Ron joined the United States Army. After Basic Training, he went through MACV-LRRP training where he distinguished himself by finishing third in his class. Ron served three tours of duty in Vietnam as a Long Range Recon Patrol Infantryman and was awarded three Purple Hearts and many other commendations of valor as a result of his heroic actions. Ron was honorably discharged after eight years of service as a Ranger; at his time of separation from the Army he had attained the rank of Sergeant (E-5). Following his time in the Army, Ron began his career in civil service at Fort McClellan, Alabama. In 1987, he transferred to Robins Air Force Base from which he later retired. After witnessing the devastation following the attacks of September 11, 2001, Ron decided to come out of retirement and he was one of the first civilians to help set up military bases in Iraq. A true patriot, Ron loved his country deeply; he was also an avid fan of Alabama football, and enjoyed hunting. Still, his greatest happiness came from the time he spent with his family, and especially with his beloved grandson, Mason. Ron's parents, Eugene Works and Sarah Cook Seabolt, both preceded him in death.

His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 45 years, Diane Works of Warner Robins; sons, Jeffrey Lynn Works and Joseph Ray Works (Sarah), also of Warner Robins, Donnie Hall of Archdale, North Carolina; grandson, Mason Bryant Works and his Aunt, Evelyn Nash of Steele, Alabama.

At the family's request all services will be private.

Donations may be given in memory of Ron Works to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 455 Abernathy Road NE, Atlanta, Georgia, 30328.
