Sfc. William Earl Schurtz, U.S. Army (Ret.)

January 10, 1928 — February 18, 2019

William Schurtz, 91, peacefully entered into rest on Monday, February 18, 2019.

William was born on January 10, 1928 in Yankton, South Dakota to the late Fred Schurtz and Jennie Fisher Schurtz. After he turned the age of 18, William proudly volunteered to serve his country in the United States Army. He honorably fought during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. William retired from the U.S. Army after 30 impressive years of service. After his military career, William served another 30 years working in Civil Service Human Resources Personnel. His favorite pastimes included bowling and spending time with his family whom he loved dearly.

His memory will forever be treasured by his sons, Danny Schurtz of Cumming, Georgia and Murray Schurtz of Warner Robins, Georgia; grandsons, Brendan “B.J.” Schurtz and Chris Schurtz; and sister Evelyn Timm of Yankton, South Dakota.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 20, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A graveside service for Mr. Schurtz will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Stockbridge, Georgia.

The family will accept flowers or donations may be given in memory of William Schurtz to FAITH Riders at 7100 US-17, Fleming Island, Florida 32003.

McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with Mr. Schurtz’s arrangements.
