Smsgt. Bobby Eugene Simmons, Jr., Usaf (Ret.)

Bobby Eugene Simmons, Jr. went home to the Lord on Saturday, June 9, 2018 while at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. He was 48.

Bobby was born on September 24, 1969 in Tampa, Florida and was of the Baptist faith. A 1988 graduate of Tampa Bay Technical High School, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 23 and a half years of service with two tours in Afghanistan. He retired with the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. Subsequent to his military career, Bobby continued working at Robins Air Force Base as a contractor for Booz Allen Hamilton. In 2017, he graduated Summa Cum Laude from Colorado Technical University with a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology with a specialization in Network Management. In his free time, he enjoyed Air Traffic Control, playing chess, graphic design, riding his Harley Davidson, serving the community, and mentoring.

His mother, Gloria Buckner, preceded him in death.

Bobby’s memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 4 years, Monya Michelle Simmons; children, Bobby Simmons III, Jacquelyn Simmons, Keziah McGhee, Janneyn Simmons, Ryan Cooper, and Isaiah Simmons; father, Bobby Simmons, Sr. (Emma); siblings, Brandi Simmons, Brian Simmons, Ebony Simmons, Lakesha Denson, and Tomika Barner; devoted aunts and uncles, Delores Robinson, Yvonne Waters, Leola Laundry (Joe), Linda Myers, Ethel Washington, Leslie Lester, Vanessa Buckner, Debra McGhee, Jimmy Myers, Jr. (Pam), and Jhonny Buckner (Alice); father-in-law, Jackie Buckner; brothers-in-law, Vernon Buckner (Rhonda), Nicholas Buckner (Fremonia), and Micha Delouis; godson, Jayden Brown; and cousins, Earl Bryant, Algela Walton (Theo), Andre Myers, Clifton Myers, Octavious Laundry, Joseph Laundry, Devonta Myers, Donzell Myers, and LaKendra Lakes.

Visitation will be Friday, June 15, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2018 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Elder Jane Thomas and Reverend Preston King officiating.

McCullough Funeral Home has the privilege of being entrusted with Mr. Simmon’s arrangements.
