Smsgt Boyd S. Hart, Usaf (Ret)

December 28, 1924 — November 4, 2013

Senior Master Sergeant Boyd Hart slipped from this earth and took his place in the Kingdom of Heaven on Monday, November 4, 2013.

He was born December 28, 1924 in Commerce, Georgia to the late Boyd and Vera Hart. He was preceded in death by a brother, Linwood Hart and son, Jim Hart.

SMSgt Hart proudly served for twenty-one years in the United States Air Force. Throughout his long and distinguished military career, he served in the 16th SAC. He was a B-17 gunner in World War II and served during The Korean War and continued his service throughout the Vietnam War as well. SMSgt Hart served his country with pride and dignity and was awarded many commendations as a result. Following his retirement from the USAF, he drove tour buses for many years and also drove a school bus for the Peach County Board of Education. There, his kindness and unwavering strength of character earned him the admiration and respect of scores of students who were fortunate enough to cross his path. Boyd was a longtime member of Byron Baptist Church and the Clams Sunday School Class. His faith and dedication to God was always evident and he used his gifts to enrich the lives of so many. Boyd had a love for gospel music and he touched many hearts through the power of his voice. Often, he would sing alongside his daughter, Kim who shared his talent.

Most of all, Boyd was a dedicated husband, father, brother and friend. He was married for 52 years to the love of his life. It was a marriage that most people would equate to a fairy tale. He loved his two children and 3 granddaughters without limits. He was a man of great wisdom, faith and character. He earned respect by showing respect and he won our hearts with the pureness of his own.

His memory will be forever cherished by his beloved wife Joyce; son, Alan Hart (Kathy) and daughter Kim Monaghan (Dennis); and granddaughters, LeslieAnn Pritchett, McKensi Kersey and Karol Ann Hart; and sister, Bertie Mae Fitzpatrick (Horace). He is also loved and cherished by four nieces and three nephews and countless friends.
