Smsgt. Curtis R. "Curt" Mayfield

July 28, 1947 — June 3, 2020

Curtis Raymond Mayfield, 72, passed away peacefully on the evening of Wednesday, June 3, 2020.

Mr. Mayfield was born on July 28, 1947, in Lepanto, Arkansas to the late Thurmond and Bobbie Jean Matthews Mayfield. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of Senior Master Sergeant before retiring. Subsequent to his military service, he was a property officer with the Bradenton Police Department. In his spare time, Mr. Mayfield greatly enjoyed driving his car and working in his yard. He was a member of Centerville United Methodist Church. He was a lifelong fan and enjoyed cheering for the Chicago Bears and the Chicago Cubs. His most valued time was spent loving on his kids and grandkids and taking care of his beloved dogs, Abby and Sammy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Mayfield was preceded in death by his daughter, Kim Kalch.

His memory will forever be treasured by his adoring wife of 53 years, Lynne Mayfield; his son, Randy Mayfield; his grandchildren, Kaitlyn Kalch, Ryan Mayfield, Tyler Mayfield, and Emma Kalch; his siblings, Kaye Harris (Ray), Garry Mayfield (Cindy), Jeannie Murphy (Frank), and Cindy Brefeld (Scott); and a host of other loving family members and friends.

Visitation with Mr. Mayfield’s family will be Sunday, June 7, 2020, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. The funeral service celebrating his life will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. Anthony McPhail officiating. Following the service, Mr. Mayfield will be laid to rest in Perry Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made to Centerville United Methodist Church, 600 N. Houston Lake Boulevard, Centerville, Georgia 31028.
