Joseph "Joe" W. Barrett, 68, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2015.
Joe was born on July 4, 1947 in Brooklyn, New York. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, earning two purple hearts. Joe then worked for Weyerhaeuser Company, in the Paragon Trade Brands division. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church and he was a member of the Marine Corp League in Byron. Joe loved time spent with his family especially his eight grandchildren.
His parents, Joseph David and Veronica Marie Hughes Barrett, and sister, Teresa Maureen Rylsky, preceded him in death.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 42 years, Karon Barrett of Byron; children, Anita M. Evans (Tyrone) of Bonaire, Kevin W. Barrett of Byron, Eric D. Barrett (Sharon) of Byron; grandchildren, Will Wellons, Chad Barrett, Alayla Ussery, Tavius Ussery, Jared Evans, Eric E. Barrett, Nijah Barrett, Aaron J. Barrett; and sister, Catherine McLeod of California.
Visitation will be Monday, September 28, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Following the service, Mr. Barrett will be laid to rest in Andersonville National Cemetery with military honors.
