Shane Allen Snipes

July 23, 1969 — May 10, 2021

Shane Allen Snipes, age 51, passed away in Atlanta on Monday, May 10, 2021, after a brief illness.

Shane was the type of person who would give someone the shirt off of his back. He did not judge people or have a bad word to say about anyone. Shane never met a stranger and devoted his time to being a family man for 28 years. He was born in Tupelo, Mississippi, on July 23, 1969, to Dwight Snipes and the late Linda Brazile. He attended Mooreville High School, Itawamba Community College and Mississippi State University. Although he may have traveled around the world and made his home in Georgia, Shane never wavered in his love of his Mississippi State Bulldogs. He was a country music fan who also enjoyed the beach, camping and car shows.

A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Shane obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant during his eight years of active duty. He served as a member of the Security Forces in the Air Force in Desert Storm and Desert Shield as well as in Kosovo. He was awarded the NATO Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal Kuwait, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with 3 devices, Southwest Asia Service Medal and Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon. After his service to his country, Shane worked in civil service at Robins Air Force Base in hazardous waste management. Because of his generous nature, Shane was a proud supporter of military members’ charity organizations and POW MIA groups.

Those who are left to treasure the memory of their beloved husband, son, father, and grandfather are his wife of 28 years, Lorie Snipes; father, Dr. Dwight Snipes of Conyers, Georgia; sons, Frank Goodman (Lori), Brandon Davis (Leah), and Taylor Snipes (AnnaLeah); brother, Nat Snipes (Nikki) of Tuscumbia, Alabama; sisters, Whitney Snipes (Shane) of Mansfield, Georgia, and Morgan Vidal (Raul) of Orlando, Florida; grandmother, Katherine Barnes of Mooreville, Mississippi; and grandchildren, Allanah Goodman, Decker Davis, Kamille Goodman, Hendrix Davis, Orion Whitaker, Olivia Davis, and Trey Oliver.
