Shirley I. Carter

Shirley I. Carter, 78, entered into rest on Tuesday, September 10, 2013.

Shirley was born on October 29, 1934 in Chambers County, Alabama. From the time she was a young girl, she possessed a true servant's heart and set a wonderful Christian example to family, friends and anyone she met. In 1954, she married Eddie Paul Carter, who was an ordained minister. He pastored several churches in the area and Shirley took great delight in following his journey of faith. She was a faithful member of Southside Baptist Church and was a much-loved member of the Amazing Grays.

Shirley retired from Sears and Roebuck Company after thirty dedicated years. She adored her family and will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and woman of strong faith. Her beloved husband of fifty-five years, Eddie Paul Carter; granddaughter, Jamie Lynn Carter; parents, James Edward and Mary Adams Moore; and siblings, Mary Elizabeth Danford, Sally Juanita Pike, Mildred Carolyn Spradlin and James Zachary Moore preceded her in death.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving children, Denise Runyon (George) of Warner Robins and Charlie Carter (Cecilia) of Dublin; grandchildren, George Runyon, Jr. (Tiffani), Melissa Runyon, Kristin Stippel (Brandon), Kelly Coone (Elijah), and Callie Rae Carter; nine great-grandchildren; and many adoring nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 12, 2013, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 13, 2013 at Southside Baptist Church with interment following in Parkway Memorial Gardens. The family will accept flowers or donations may be given to Southside Baptist Church Building Fund, 1040 S. Houston Lake Road, Warner Robins, GA 31088.
