Sophie Strauss 87, entered into rest on Sunday, February 12, 2017.

Born on October 4, 1929 in New York City, New York, Sophie was of the Jewish faith. She moved to Miami, Florida in 1953 and lived there until moving to Warner Robins, Georgia in 2016 to be closer to her daughter. Sophie was a career wife and mother who fully dedicated her life to faithfully serving her husband and nurturing her daughter. She was a certified Ham Radio Operator who loved playing Bunko, bowling, and watching Jai-alai. Sophie was also an avid fan of the New York Yankees and Miami Dolphins. She was an avid cat lover raising many cats in her lifetime, as well.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alan Edward Strauss; and parents, Israel and Mollie Cohen Askinazi.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving daughter, Eileen Burkholder (Charles) of Warner Robins; grandchildren, Kevin Mathe (Shanna) of Centerville, Jennifer Webb (Tim) of Hawkinsville, Daren Mathe (Kaity) of Raleigh, North Carolina, Carolyn Burkholder of Orange Beach, Alabama, and Brian Burkholder of Greensboro, North Carolina; nine great-grandchildren, Mariah Webb, Tripp Spano, Sophie Spano, Mason Webb, Scarlett Spano, Amelia Mathe, Celeste Webb, Chelsea Webb, and Everett Mathe; niece, Laurie Franks (Warren); nephew, Steven Lederman (Sue); and her adopted cat, Lili.

At the family's request, her burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Sophie to Heart of Georgia Hospice, 103 Westridge Dr., Warner Robins, GA 31088.
