Stanley Eugene Cleghorn

April 28, 1951 — August 9, 2021

Stanley Eugene Cleghorn, of Warner Robins, was called home to be with the Lord and his beloved Debbie on August 9, 2021.

Stanley was born on April 28, 1951, in Fitzgerald, Georgia. He was a graduate of Warner Robins High School, where he was a standout on the football field. He attended Troy State University and the University of Tennessee at Martin to play football before being drafted into the United States Army. In 1971, prior to his deployment to Vietnam, Stanley married the love of his life, Debbie. After serving with distinction, he returned stateside and began his career as a master cabinet maker and as a civil servant. He was a faithful member of Grace Fellowship Church in Warner Robins.

Stanley’s greatest wish was to rejoin his brother and best friend, Ricky, at the cabinet shop. His sense of humor was infectious, keeping everyone in the family laughing even through the difficult times. Stanley was selfless and loving, and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David Zachary and Jean M. Cleghorn, and his brothers Gary, Ronnie, and Jackie, but most importantly, his darling Debbie, his wife of 50 years.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving sons, Lance Cleghorn (Cat) of Savannah and E.Z. Cleghorn of Warner Robins; his brother, Ricky (Vicki); grandchildren, Bryce, Mikayla, and Dalila; numerous nieces and nephews; and his faithful companion, Mercy.

Stanley will be laid to rest at his mother’s feet at 3 p.m. on Friday, August 13, 2021, at Magnolia Park Cemetery, with military honors. There will be a short memorial service officiated by the Reverend Bruce Brookshire.

For friends unable to attend at this time, the service will be streamed live via the McCullough Funeral Home Facebook page at www.facebook.com/mcculloughfuneralhome/live/.
