Stephen “Steve” Warren Sutton

Stephen (Steve) Warren Sutton went to heaven on April 1, 2018. Steve lost his wife, Joanne Sutton, on January 1, 2018. Joanne was the love of his life and he could no longer bare to be apart from her, as he often referred to her as his “Earth Angel.” He is survived by his daughter Melissa Anne Eden and husband Brian of Fredericksburg, Virginia; his daughter Tracy Jeanne Harmon and husband Jeff of Warner Robins, GA; and, his son Timothy Michael Sutton and wife Becky of Long Beach, California. Jonathan Harwood, Ashley Sikes, Zachary Andre, Matthew Andre, Zoe Sutton, and Jolene Sutton are Steve’s surviving grandchildren.

Steve devotedly attended to his roles as a husband, father and grandfather. He always put the needs of his family before his own. Steve loved animals, sports, art, and history, and passed those interests on to his children and grandchildren. He cherished and loved his entire family deeply, and those feelings were reciprocated in kind.

Steve served over 30 years on active duty in the United States Air Force. He retired at the rank of Colonel. He was stationed all over the world and truly enjoyed his career. Those who served with him fondly remember him as a “servant leader” who always put the needs of his fellow Airmen ahead of his own. He worked tirelessly and mentored untold numbers of other military members during his service. On and off-duty, and into his retirement years, Steve treated everyone equally and with the greatest respect and dignity.

In lieu of flowers, Steve would have wanted donations be made to the charity of choice in his honor, and with his deep gratitude as he looks down from heaven.
