Stephen William Sarandis

Stephen W. Sarandis, 87, entered into rest on Saturday, May 7, 2011.

Mr. Sarandis was born on October 31, 1923 in Springfield, Massachusetts. He was a member of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church in Macon, Georgia. Steve worked in civil service for thirty years before retiring at Robins Air Force Base where he was a Personnel Classifier. Prior to his civil service career, he proudly served in the Army Air Corp during World War II and received both the Bronze Star and Purple Heart among many other distinguished awards. He received his bachelor's degree from American International College in Springfield, Massachusetts. A resident of Warner Robins since 1961, Steve was an avid golfer at Houston Lake Country Club. His daughter, Stephanie S. Sutton; parents, Simon and Mary Taliadorous Sarandis; sister, Helen S. Hondros; and his brother, George Sarandis, all preceded him in death.

His memory will forever be treasured by his beloved wife of sixty five years, Stella Dabakis Sarandis, Warner Robins; daughter, Sandra S. Hoffman, Mobile, Alabama; son and daughter in law, Billy and Debbie Sarandis, Cumming, Georgia; grandchildren, Chris Sutton, Laurie (Josh) Sutton Moudy, Stephen W. Sarandis; great grandchildren, Sydney and Noah Moudy; and so many other loving family members and friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening, May 10, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A Trisagion service begins at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening following the visitation. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church with Very Reverend Father John W. Stefero officiating. Interment will follow in Magnolia Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations to Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church Building Fund, 859 1st Street, Macon, Georgia 31201-6876.
