Steve Tester

Steve Tester, age 46, died at his home in Perry, Georgia on Monday, July 11, 2016.

Steve was a native of Bristol, Tennessee and was a graduate of East Tennessee State University with a Master's Degree in Science. After graduation, he joined the Peace Corps and was assigned to Ghana, Africa to teach Science at an all-girls school for two years. After his tour in Ghana, Steve served one year in Kenya, Africa teaching HIV awareness. When he returned from Africa, he taught middle school and high school in Alexandra, Virginia and Atlanta, Georgia before becoming a school improvement specialist (Science) with Georgia's Department of Education's school improvement program. During this time, he also taught anatomy and physiology part time at Georgia Perimeter Community College. In February of 2015, Steve relocated to Perry, Georgia to work for RESA as a school improvement specialist. He was also a member of Mensa. Steve dedicated his life to Biology/Science and Education and made tremendous impact on the lives he touched.

He was a great family man who loved his two children and loved spending time with them. Steve had an infectious smile and an amazing sense of humor and will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his father, Elvin "EB" Tester; and sister, Paul A. Tester.

Steve is survived by his mother, Doreen "Doe" Tester; two children, Ian and Ethan Brown; his sister, Tina-Tester-Jones (Keith); brother, Don Tester (Jill); and his nieces and nephews, Amy Tester, Vincent Tester, Caleb Tester, Hannah Tester-Smith (Charlie) and Cori Tester.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
