On the afternoon of Saturday, July 7, 2018, Stewart Watson, passed away at North East Georgia Medical Center.
Stewart was born on November 20, 1952 in Cooperstown, New York. As a young man, he lived in the New England area. Later, Stewart and his family moved to Warner Robins where he attended high school and graduated from Warner Robins High School in 1970. Following high school, he served his country for four years in the United States Air Force. He then began his 32-year career as an electronics instructor at the Macon Area Vocational College now known as Central Georgia Technical College retiring in December of 2012. Stewart loved to tinker and was an avid motorcyclist who enjoyed flying R.C. Airplanes. He was a member of the Lion’s Club and was of the Christian Faith. Stewart was known among his family and friends for his great sense of humor. He loved music and was “one helluva a guitarist”, he even had a chance meeting with James Taylor and they played guitar together. Stewart was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend; his memory will forever be treasured by all who knew him.
His father Robert Lee Watson, mother, Mary C. “Penny” Horn, and stepfather, Ben Horne, preceded him in death.
His memory will forever be treasured by his children, Chris Watson of Warner Robins, Dawn Watson Hall of Warner Robins, McKayla Watson of Soperton; stepson, Sunil Chandras of Warner Robins; grandchildren, Lucas Hall, Reece Ericson; sisters, Sandy Duchesne and Lisa Cargill, both of Hiawassee, and ex-wife, Cindy Watson.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 11, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Andersonville National Cemetery where Stewart will be laid to rest with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Stewart D. Watson to the American Cancer Society, 804 Cherry Street, Suite A, Macon, GA 31201.
McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with Mr. Watson’s arrangements.
