Early on the morning of Friday, April 8, 2022, Mrs. Susie Ann Stamey Lyman passed away at Perry Hospital. She was 81 years old.
Susie was born on November 17, 1940, in Newland, Avery County, North Carolina. The youngest daughter of the late James “Lum” Columbus and Dovie Pritchard Stamey, Susie was one of seven siblings.
Susie held many job titles to include a Telephone Operator and Nurse’s Assistant before moving to Asheville, North Carolina, where she then worked as a Dance Instructor and a Hairdresser.
Susie married her beloved husband, Myron Edwin Lyman, Jr. on July 12, 1977, in York, South Carolina. Together they traveled to Europe and throughout the United States while Mr. Lyman served in the United States Army. Susie and her husband also lived in numerous places including Germany; Las Vegas; Laughlin, Nevada; Savannah, Georgia; Marshall, North Carolina; Ohio; and Columbia, South Carolina; before settling in Perry, Georgia.
Susie will be remembered as a very caring person who always wanted the absolute best for everyone. She also loved the Lord, Jesus Christ, and was truly a prayer warrior.
In addition to her parents, James “Lum” Columbus and Dovie Pritchard Stamey; she was preceded in death by her brothers, June Stamey and Calvin Stamey; and sisters, Mildred Harf, Maxine Jones, Melba McCloud, and Jean Hoffer; many nieces, nephews, and other loving family members.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Myron Edwin Lyman, Jr. of Perry, Georgia.
