Susie Katherine Sloan

October 3, 1937 — October 3, 2021

On Sunday, October 3, 2021, Susie Katherine Wright Sloan, 84, received the best birthday present ever when she met Jesus face-to-face in Heaven.

Mrs. Sloan was born on October 3, 1937, in Ellijay, Georgia, to the late James Barnett and Desma Viola Wheeler Wright. A gifted caretaker with a heart for serving, Mrs. Sloan served many as a Nurse Aide in private practice as well as at Houston Healthcare until her retirement. A devoted follower of Christ, Mrs. Sloan read her Bible every day without fail. She was a dedicated member of Second Baptist Church and a vital part of the Vera Merritt Sunday School Class. Mrs. Sloan also loved spending time with her daughter and enjoyed listening to Gospel music. She never complained and always had a sweet, precious spirit that will be tremendously missed.

In addition to her parents, her beloved husband of 45 years, Charles Henderson Sloan; and daughter, Wanda Stevens; and son-in-law, Karl Fleming preceded Mrs. Sloan in death.

She is survived by her daughter, Janie Fleming of Warner Robins; sister-in-law, Glenda Kutay (Larry); and nieces and nephews, Eli Hoffman (Laurie), Laura Kinkade (Kevin), Galen Farmer (Nikki), Jacob Farmer (Jessica), and Cindy Cheek (Raymond); as well as a host of extended family members and friends.

The funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 7, 2021, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Reverend Matthew Gibbs officiating. Following the service, Mrs. Sloan will be laid to rest next to her husband in Magnolia Park Cemetery. For friends and family unable to attend, the service will be streamed live via the McCullough Funeral Home Facebook page at www.facebook.com/mcculloughfuneralhome/live/.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Susie Katherine Sloan to Second Baptist Church Building Fund, 2504 Moody Road, Warner Robins, Georgia 31088.
