Sylvester Harold Smith, Jr.

February 27, 1959 — July 20, 2022

Sylvester Harold Smith, Jr., U.S. Air Force Veteran, passed into the hands of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on the evening of Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at the age of 63. He was born in Warren, AR on February 27, 1959 and was of the Methodist faith.

Harold received an Associate Degree in Business from the University of Arkansas and proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force for four years. Two of those years were spent in Korea where he taught English to the natives. Harold continued to serve his country as a contractor at Robins Air Force Base where he calibrated equipment for over 10 years.

Harold was the best dad and Papa. He told the best stories, especially to his grandchildren, and always had a way of making his listeners feel like they were actually there in the moment with him. Harold also had funny nicknames for the grandkids and held a special relationship with each of them. An avid Arkansas Razorbacks fan (GOOO RAZORBACKS! WOOO PIG SOOIE!), Harold enjoyed fishing and football in his free time. He also enjoyed watching old Andy Griffith episodes and Western movies. Never meeting a stranger, Harold had so many friends. He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester Smith, Sr. and Velma Robinson Smith.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 39 years, Carmen Smith of Kathleen; children, Phillip H. Smith of Warner Robins and Latashia Janine Smith of Kathleen; grandchildren, Nazir Sanders, Imanni, Kingston and Leilani Smith, Camille Campbell, and Jade and Carter Smith; siblings, Gary Smith (Evelyn) and Vickie Ferrell (Lee), both of TX and Stacy Smith of AR; nieces and nephews, Evette, Donald, Lisa, Praise, Coleridge, Chris, Corbin, Briar and Geran; brother-in-law, Bishop Donald Wayne Tillman of AL; sister-in-law, Rosalind Collins-Smith of MI; and family friends, Gabrielle Sanders, Michelle Lowe and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Holloway and family.
