Sylvia Helen Mcdaniel

July 20, 1942 — January 13, 2022

Sylvia “Helen” Maine McDaniel, 79, entered Heaven’s gates on Thursday, January 13, 2022.

A native of Bonaire, Helen was born on July 20, 1942. She was the daughter of the late Sylvester O. and Emma Florence Ferguson Maine. A faithful servant of the Lord, Jesus Christ, she instilled a good moral compass, hard work ethics, and how to care for others into the hearts and minds of her children; which have now been passed down to her grandchildren.

A people person, Helen enjoyed meeting new faces as she worked at Davidson Grocery. She was truly in her element. Helen cared for everyone she came across and loved her family unconditionally. She was a member of Bonaire First Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by son-in-law, Johnny R. Palmer; granddaughter, Florence Palmer; and siblings, Shelby and John Monroe; and Billy and Walt Maine.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her beloved husband, Harlow Jefferson McDaniel, Sr.; children, Lisa M. Melvin, Tracy L. Palmer, Harlow “Jeff” Jefferson McDaniel, Jr. (Melissa J.); grandchildren, Victoria I. Palmer, Christina A. Palmer, Mystie M. Mingledorff, Thaddeus L. Melvin, Shawn M. McDaniel; and siblings, Donna Brown (David), Gail Greene (Ronnie), and Annie, Latha, Jimmy (Peggy), and Terry (Marilyn) Maine.
