Tsgt. Charles William "Bill" Carper, Usaf (Ret.)

December 25, 1943 — May 12, 2022

Our dear father, stepfather, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, Bill Carper, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at the age of 78. He is gone but will never be forgotten.

Born in Roanoke, VA on Christmas Day, 1943, Bill was the son of the late William and Ruby Carper. He graduated from William Byrd High School in 1962 and attended Augusta Military Academy. Bill then worked for his father in the retail and wholesale fresh seafood business in Virginia. In 1963, he proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served his country in the communications field. For 20 years, Bill’s military career took him all over the world, as he was stationed in Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Virginia, Italy, England, Turkey and the Philippines. He retired from the Air Force in November of 1983 having attained the rank of Tech Sergeant.

Subsequent to Bill’s military retirement, he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree from Georgia College in 1991. He went on to work in Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base in the logistics field and the AMRAAM Missile Program where he enjoyed working with teams in Israel, Saudi Arabia and Egypt. Bill retired from Civil Service in 2009. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, sailing, collecting antiques and spending time with family. He took joy in doting on his beloved dogs, Max, Buddy and Pepper, as well.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Lashley Carper; his former wife, Irma Gose Carper; and his stepson, Eddie Watson.

He is survived by his only daughter, Tracye Trivison, her husband, Brian and their children, Bella and Tucker; half sisters, Barbara Thayer and Jenny Winski; stepchildren, Kaye Utley (Barry), Ginger Watson and Jeff Watson (Libby), grandchildren, Christopher Utley (Ashton), Brent Utley (Mallory), Jordyn Pruitt (Carson), Kessler Watson, Katie Watson, Tyler Watson, Tucker Watson, Chelsea Rowell, Taylor Exum and Stormie Watson; and great-grandchildren, Blake and Brenner Utley, Blair Utley, Julian Gutierrez, Legend Byron, Blaize Wright and Ivie Exum.

A memorial service celebrating Bill’s life will take place at the Farmhouse at McCullough Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2022.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in memory of Bill to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675 or to the Humane Society of Houston County, P.O. Box 9588, Warner Robins, GA 31095.
