Tsgt. Edward “Ed” H. Gregory, Usaf (Ret.)

January 9, 1933 — February 3, 2022

At home surrounded by loved ones, TSgt. Edward “Ed” H. Gregory, USAF (Ret.) entered into rest after a valiant battle with cancer on Thursday, February 3, 2022.

Ed was born in Brooks County, GA on January 9 1933, to the late Osco Garrett Gregory and Florida Mae Pitts Gregory.

A true patriot, Ed was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. He enlisted at the age of 17 and served aboard the destroyer U.S.S. John R. Pierce as a Seaman 1st Class during the Korean conflict. He later joined the United States Air Force and served in multiple stateside assignments, as well as a tour in Germany. While serving a twelve-month tour in Vietnam, Ed was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service. He retired from the Air Force after 20 plus years of service and went on to work as a civilian on Robins AFB, GA. During that time, he worked assignments in law enforcement, accounting and finance, and foreign military sales. After 20 years and nine months of civil service, Ed retired a second and final time.

A resident of Warner Robins since 1978, Ed was a quiet philanthropist, who supported a wide range of local, regional, and national charities too numerous to mention. After retirement, he proudly spent over 20 years as a volunteer for the Houston Medical Center. He loved serving and helping people there, as well as spending time with his fellow volunteers and hospital staff. Ed was a devoted Christian and a faithful member of Second Baptist Church in Warner Robins since 1988.
In addition to his parents, Ed's loving wife of 27 years, Gloria Lamb Gregory; as well as six brothers, and three sisters, preceded him in death.

Ed is survived by his sister, Glenda Wilbanks of Aiken, S.C.; brother, Harold Gregory (Rita) of Hiawassee; sisters-in-law, Mildred Gregory of Tifton; Sybil Gregory of Columbus; and Joy Gregory of Sycamore; chosen granddaughter, Taylor Couch of Warner Robins and her parents, Kimberly and Mike Starkey of Fort Valley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
