Tsgt Gary P. Hester, Usaf (Ret.)

Gary Hester, 79, entered into rest on Friday, August 3, 2018.

Gary was born on June 30, 1939 in Alton, Illinois to the late J.D. and Kathleen Hester. With pride and honor, he served his country in the United States Air Force during Vietnam. Gary retired after twenty one years of dedicated service. He had natural ability in everything he attempted and was an excellent cook, having attended culinary school. He loved adventure, travelling, and time spent with his family. Gary was involved at Harvest Church and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He had a servant’s heart and was always reaching out to help others. Gary’s family and friends will greatly miss him but will cherish all the memories made throughout the years.

His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 55 years, Barbara Hester; children, Pamela Bruce and Gary Hester, Jr. (Angela); grandchildren, Clinton Bruce, Callie Bruce and Gauge Hester and sister, Judy Dale Mortland.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Andersonville National Cemetery to include full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Gary Hester to American Cancer Society at 804 Cherry Street, Suite A, Macon, Georgia 31201.
