TSgt. Grainger Steele Lanneau, Sr. USAF (Ret.) passed away on January 2, 2021 after a short battle with Covid.

He was born on September 8, 1937, in Charleston, South Carolina to the late John Grainger and Cressy Lanneau. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 23 years of honorable service. Originally from Summerville, South Carolina, he was stationed throughout the United States, the Philippines, Crete, and Japan during his years in the Air Force. His last assignment was as a Telecom System and Equipment Supervisor for the 5th Combat Communications Group at Robins Air Force Base. Known as “Big John” or “Johnny,” Grainger was an avid deer hunter and outdoorsman. He had a great respect for nature.

Survivors include his wife Patricia Ann Lanneau; children, Grainger S. Lanneau, Jr. (Marion), John Miller Lanneau (Allison L.), Nikki Michelle Calhoun (Brian); grandchildren, Grainger S. Lanneau III, Hannah Grace Lanneau, Mary Katherine Lanneau, and Kolbe Lloyd Lanneau, Blayne Marie Lanneau, Julia Ann Lanneau, Addison Grace Parks, Daxton Miller Lanneau, Steele A. Calhoun (Lauren), Ashley N. Campbell (Josh), Troy M. Calhoun, and Sara Elizabeth Calhoun; great grandchild, Norah Calhoun; and sister, Cressy Elizabeth Cox.

Friends are invited to pay their respect between the hours of 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2021. Due to Covid concerns, the family will not be present. A private graveside service will be held on Friday, January 8, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Andersonville National Cemetery. The service will be streamed live via the McCullough Funeral Home Facebook page at www.facebook.com/mcculloughfuneralhome/live/.
