Tsgt James T. Buchan, Sr., Usaf (Ret)

James T. Buchan, Sr., 88, entered into rest on Friday, January 10, 2014.

Ted was born on July 10, 1925 in Hawkinsville, Georgia to the late Howard T. and Mary Belle Sirmans Buchan. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict where he participated in Air Rescue. Ted retired from the Air Force with the rank of Tech Sergeant and went on to retire Civil Service from Robins Air Force Base. Ted was a devoted member of Shirley Hills Baptist Church and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife, Virginia Cheek Buchan, Perry, Georgia; children, Terrell Buchan (Kimberly), Lagrange, Georgia; Cathy Mullis (Jimmy), Oglethorpe, Georgia; and Sharon Scarborough (Mike), Auburn, Alabama; four grandchildren, Derrell Mullis (Melinda), Phillip Buchan (Ashley), Mallory Smith (Scot), and Dalton Cross; three great-grandchildren, Thomas and Arthur Buchan and Noah Mullis; brother, John Russell Buchan, Monteagle, Tennessee; sister, Georgia E. Bollinger, Cochran, Georgia; and several beloved nieces and nephews.

His family would like to thank the caregivers at his home and at Summerhill Senior Living Community for the excellent care given to "Mr. Ted" and for the unfaltering love and support shown to the family at this time.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 13, 2014 at Shirley Hills Baptist Church. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Browndale Church Cemetery in Pulaski County. The family will greet visitors at the church one hour prior to the service. Reverend Andy Cook officiating.
