On the evening of Sunday, October 28, 2018, John E. Herren, age 80, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in heaven.
John was born in Rena Lara, Mississippi on June 3, 1938 the son the late Lucy Watson Herren and William T. Herren. A proud 20-year veteran of the United States Air Force, he retired from Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base. John was a former member of Green Acres Baptist Church and most recently attended the First Christian Church in Macon where he sang in the choir. He also enjoyed being a member of the VFW Post 6605, American Legion Post 3, and was past President of USA Dance Chapter 6059 for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Herren; and daughter, Wendy Herren.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving son, John Wayne Herren and stepsons, James Leon Williams and Douglas Eric Williams, all of Warner Robins; grandson, Bradley Williams; niece, Brenda Stewart and her family of Suwanee; nephew, Rick Herren and his family, of Larkspur, Colorado; and adopted sister, Linda Duckworth of Texas.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 1, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 2, 2018 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Rev. William Johnson officiating. Afterwards, John will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of John to the Salvation Army, 305 Green St., Warner Robins, GA 31088 or to Happy Hour Service Center and Recycling, 202 N. Davis Dr., Warner Robins, GA 31093.
