Tsgt. Ronald John “Ron” Slysz, Usaf (Ret.)

A proud patriot, TSgt. Ronald John “Ron” Slysz, USAF (Ret.) entered into rest on the morning of Friday, September 23, 2022, at the Hazel Colson Hospice House, in Perry, Georgia. He was 75 years old.

The son of the late Joseph Slysz and Geneveieve Kubic Slysz, Ron was born and raised in Ipswich, Massachusetts. He graduated from Ipswich High School where he was a drummer in the band and played baseball. After high school, Ron worked on his family’s farm before enlisting in the United States Air Force. He lived in England, California, Arizona, and Georgia, during his time in the Air Force. With pride and honor, he earned a number of awards, medals, and ribbons to include the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal in Vietnam, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the Air and Space Commendation Medal. Ron retired after 24 years of service with the rank of Technical Sergeant and title of Jet Engine Mechanic in April of 1990. He then continued serving his homeland as an Aircraft Mechanic in civil service on Robins Air Force Base.

With a love for baseball, Ron was a mega Boston Red Sox fan and coached his own children’s baseball teams. Of the Catholic faith, he attended the Robins Air Force Base Chapel. Ron was also an avid reader, and enjoyed listening to music and watching movies. He will be remembered as an honorable man of God and a servant to his family and his country.

In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his brother, Stanley Slysz.

His memory will forever be treasured by his beloved wife of 48 years, Peggy Lynn Brown Slysz; children, Bruce Wayne, Joey Slysz (Janie), Stefanie Slysz, and Kristi Stoll (Travis); several grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sister, Carol Weber (Steve).

A private graveside service honoring Ron’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 29, 2022, in Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest with Full Military Honors.
