Tsgt. William A. "Bill" Grimmett, Usaf (Ret.)

November 25, 1936 — August 16, 2022

On the evening of Tuesday, August 16, 2022, our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Bill Grimmett, passed away peacefully at home, at the age of 85.

Bill was born in Charleston, WV on November 25, 1936, the son of the late Harry C. and Pearl Fox Grimmett. Soon after graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Bill embraced the opportunity to travel all over the world with his military career and was happy to be stationed in Massachusetts, Japan, Georgia, Thailand, Ohio, Europe, Montana, Georgia (again), Florida, and back to Georgia for a final time, where he retired having attained the rank of Tech Sergeant. Following his military retirement, he majored in History at Fort Valley State University before assuming a career as a licensing contractor at Robins Air Force Base.

Aside from his time at work, Bill was an active member of The Assembly at Warner Robins and the Gleaner’s Sunday School class. He was also proud to be a former District Commander for the Georgia Royal Rangers OP 35. Bill loved working, worshiping at church and serving the Royal Rangers, but spending time with his family is what made him happiest. He treasured every moment he spent with them and they will do the same in the years to come.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa G. Jones.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 63 years, Charlotte Ann Grimmett of Kathleen; daughter, Cheryl A. Brooks and her husband, Leroy of Kathleen; son-in-law, William T. Jones III of Perry; grandchildren, Leeo Brooks and Tyler and Emily Brooks, Nathan and Victoria Garren, Miranda and Scott Helms and Ashton Kate and Jonathan Harding; great-grandchildren, Andrew Helms, Rylee, Charlie Ann and Lexi Brooks, Anna Garren, and Roger, Henry and David Whitley; brother, Robert Bennett of WV; and sister-in-law, Josey West of Macon.

Bill’s family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, August 20, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at The Assembly at Warner Robins. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Richard Azbell officiating. Bill will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Mausoleum following the service.

For friends unable to attend at this time, the service will be streamed live via the McCullough Funeral Home Facebook page at www.facebook.com/mcculloughfuneralhome/live/.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Bill to the Georgia Royal Rangers, P.O. Box 28470, Macon, GA 31221.
