Tammy Kay Jiles

Tammy Kay Jiles, 45, entered into rest on Thursday, May 15, 2014, after a courageous extended battle with cancer.

Mrs. Jiles was born on June 22, 1968, in Sandersville, Georgia to Henry and Lavada Meeks Johnson. A graduate of Georgia College and State University, Tammy also attended Washington County High School. Tammy spent her entire career as an advocate for children. During her tenure with the Georgia Department of Human Resources, she held many positions. Most notably, she was a child welfare supervisor with Wilkinson County DFCS where she spearheaded the creation of a summer camp for foster children. She was diligent in her efforts to ensure that the children in the local foster care system were not only cared for, but that they had special recreational opportunities. During her time with the DHR Special Investigations Unit, she was tireless in her efforts to protect children in the community. She also worked with the Children's Hospital at the Medical Center of Central Georgia as a social worker. When she was not working, Tammy loved to travel and tend to her garden.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her devoted husband of fourteen years, Emory S. Jiles III; son, Christopher A. Thompson of Warner Robins; daughter, Madison Dale Jiles of Elko; granddaughter, Saphyra Kaye Thompson of Warner Robins; parents, Henry and Lavada Johnson of Tennille; and brother, Henry D. Johnson of Atlanta.

Visitation will be Sunday, May 18, 2014, from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 19, 2014, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home in Warner Robins, Georgia with interment following at 3:30 p.m. in Zeta Cemetery in Tennille, Georgia.
