Thelma Anita Whatley

December 18, 1933 — July 28, 2020

Anita Whatley, 86, joined her beloved husband, Leland Winright Whatley, in Heaven, on Tuesday, July 28, 2020. She was born in Griffin, Georgia, on December 18, 1933, to the late John William and Thelma Brooks McCullough.

The proud daughter of a police officer, Anita was a devout Christian who dedicated her life to being a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She loved Western movies and sports, especially baseball.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughters, Christa and Dianne Whatley.

She is survived by her loving son, Lee Whatley (Carla) of Gray; granddaughters, Krista and Samantha Whatley; and sister, Betty Newby of Newnan.

Anita will be laid to rest next to her husband, Leland, at a graveside funeral service on Saturday, August 1, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. in Zebulon Methodist Church Cemetery, 212 Griffin St., Zebulon, GA 30295.
