Thelma Wilson Fossum

February 8, 1944 — April 10, 2022

Thelma Wilson Fossum passed away at Atrium Health Navicent The Medical Center in Macon, Georgia, on Sunday, April 10, 2022. She was 78 years old.

Born on February 8, 1944, in Santa Rosa, California, Thelma was the daughter of the late Eugene Edward and Ella Elizabeth Churchwell Wilson. She was a talented elementary and middle school teacher as well as a counselor in multiple states. After several years of selflessly instilling valuable knowledge into the young minds of her students, Thelma retired and spent the next years as a missionary in Montenegro and then enjoying time with family when she moved to Warner Robins.

Patriotic, Thelma was a proud military wife. She supported and loved her country and her husband. Most of all, Thelma loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and was a member of Central Baptist Church. This Easter will mark the 61st anniversary of Thelma’s baptism. She and her husband, Grant were baptized together in a cold river in California.

A doting mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Thelma adored her family.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her husband, Grant Fossum, II of Warner Robins; children, Kimberly Best, Erika Powelson, and Grant Fossum, III; grandchildren, Cayla Schnider, Rebecca Butler, Carson Best, Ridge Powelson, Marren Powelson, Noah Fossum, and Naomi Fossum; great-grandchildren, Josiah Best, Jackson Butler, Jonas Schnider, Julia Best, Ellie Schinder, and Rhett Butler.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. The memorial service celebrating her life will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Thelma will be interred in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
