Theodore P. Joyner

Theodore “Ted” P. Joyner, 89, entered into rest on Thursday, January 12, 2023.


Ted was born on July 31, 1933, in Fort Valley, Georgia to the late Henry & Katie Joyner. Ted was a three-sport letterman at Fort Valley High School, where he graduated in 1952. While there, he was also a part of the basketball team that won the state championship. After high school, he joined the United States Navy and served in the Korean conflict. Following his military service, Ted returned to Georgia to raise his family. He later relocated to Warner Robins in 1967 and became a lifetime member of the Warner Robins High School Touchdown Club. He spent 37 years in civil service working as a Production Control Specialist at Robins Air Force Base. He was a long-time faithful member of Shirley Hills Baptist Church.


Along with his parents, Ted was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Sylvia; his son, Charles Barker; and his siblings, Elizabeth Andrews, Henry L. Joyner, Jr., William E. Joyner, and Emily Crowe.


His memory will forever be treasured by his children, Sharnell Joyner Gillum (Paul) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Denise Joyner Hughes of Wichita Falls, TX, Pat Joyner (Bernie) of Tyrone, GA, and Carol Barker Murphy of Warner Robins, GA; grandchildren, Ginger Williams (Derrick), Matthew Joyner (Amy), Kimberly Nolan (Matt), Eric Young, and Shannon Thames (Sam); along with nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.


Visitation will be Tuesday, January 17, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Afterward, Ted will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.


The family will accept flowers or donations may be given in memory of Ted Joyner to Shirley Hills Baptist Church Building Fund, 615 Corder Road, Warner Robins, GA 31088.


Following the service, a video recording of the service will be available at www.mcculloughfh.com where you can also sign the Online Registry for the family. McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with these arrangements.
