Thin Trong Tran

May 20, 1924 — January 30, 2019

Our beloved dad, granddad, great-granddad, Mr. Thìn Trọng Trần (also go by Mùi) passed away peacefully at the age of 100 surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Thìn Trọng Trần was a soldier in the Vietnam Army, a successful provider for his family through the many trades that included duck herding, rice farming, merchant, business owner and one of the founding leaders of his hometown Phương Lâm. He lived a disciplined Catholic life.

The central theme throughout his life had always been making a better life for his children than he had. In 1954’s Operation Passage to Freedom, he left our ancestral homeland of Giáo Xứ Phát Diệm, N. Việt Nam but had always said that Phát Diệm is the home in his heart. After the many resettlements in Bến Tre, Mỹ Tho, and in 1958 settled at Phương Lâm, S. Việt Nam, where he built a successful business named Đức Long at the very center of town. Once again in April 1975, with the mass exodus of Viet Nam after the fall of the South VN government VNCH, Mr. Thìn arrived at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas refugee camp – to a completely new world in the United States of America. He first lived in Rosemount, Minnesota then relocated to New Orleans, Louisiana and later to Warner Robins, Georgia where he was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Ba, we love you, we have better lives and our future generations have brighter futures because of you. We are forever grateful for your sacrifices - Công Ơn Sinh Thành.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years Sen T. Lê. He was the fourth son of the late Mr. Trần Tiệp and Mrs. Đinh ThịVượng of Giáo Xứ Phát Diệm, Tỉnh Ninh Bình, N. Việt Nam.

Our dad, granddad, great-granddad was also preceded in death by his three children; daughter, Hương Thị Trần, and sons, Đường Trần, Hiệp Trần.

He is survived by his nine children Học, Đương, Xuyến, Yến, Oanh, Thành, Nghiệp, and Cảnh Trần, their spouses; two adopted sons, Rạng and Luông (still in Việt Nam); and also survived by 36 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren. He is last pillar of Tiệp Trần’a five major lineages Trần Ngọc Tuyết, Trần Trinh, Trần Cao Tịnh, Trần Trọng Thìn, Trần Văn Hóa
(Trần Thị Hồi, Trần Tường, Trần Quý had no children)
